JAMIE VARDY'S barren run has is no surprise because he is not a natural finisher.

That is the view of former Liverpool and England star Michael Owen, who knows a thing or two about finding the net.

After firing Leicester to the title last season, Vardy has struggled to recapture his form with just three strikes this campaign.

And BT pundit Owen - who scored 40 international goals - told : "I wouldn’t class Vardy as a natural goalscorer, when he gets in front of goal it’s often head down hit is as hard as you can.

"Vardy’s been on some great runs but he’s quite a streaky player even though he can score continuously as he broke the record last season.

"We all finish in different ways, he’s a different type of finisher than say me.

"A lot of time when your luck’s in you hit it hard it as hard as you can and it will take a bounce and go in.

"But sometimes you need to be a little more clinical and calculated so it’s understandable why he’s a little bit streaky.

"He needs a goal for his confidence, he’s always a threat, he’s always energetic and helps the team but there’s not many goalscorers in their team so we he doesn’t there aren’t many who step up."
