Toby Alderweireld injury news: Tottenham ace could be back to face Leicester in 10 days’ time but miss Bayer Leverkusen
TOTTENHAM hope crocked Toby Alderweireld could be fit to return against Leicester in 10 days’ time.
The Belgian defender was carried off on a stretcher at West Brom on Saturday.
But Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking ahead of his team’s Champions League clash at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, said: “We think it wasn't a big issue.
“It was a big knock, a heavy knock in his leg but we hope it's not a big problem for the next week.”
As well as tonight’s clash in Germany, Alderweireld could only miss Tottenham’s trip to Bournemouth on Saturday and their EFL Cup clash at Liverpool next week.
The centre-back underwent a scan, and Poch said: “We need to wait for the results but we hope it is nothing important.”
Eric Dier is set to be replace Alderweireld in the centre of the Tottenham defence.
Pochettino said: “The important thing is we trust in him. It is not important the position he plays, whether he is a centre-back or midfielder, but we trust in him.
“For me, Eric is a player who can develop his game in different positions. We trust him as a person and for his skills.”
