Antonio Conte was said to be keen on  the idea, along with many Chelsea fans would be delighted with the change.

But the way in which Jose Mourinho’s sacking was carried out, with Emanelo reckoned to have betrayed the Portuguese, left a bitter taste in the mouth for many Blues followers.

Add in the chaotic loan system Emanelo has overseen, and the lack of graduation from the academy, then it’s easy to see why he has few admirers outside of his inner circle.

And it seems these dissenting Chelsea fans won't get there way.

For although it is understood Conte would like to find a way to work with Sabatini, credited with the emergence of Miralem Pjanic, Erik Lamela and Radja Nainggolan at Roma, a Chelsea spokesman dismissed suggestions that he will replace Emenalo as "utter nonsense".
