Antonio Conte is sure to be monitoring Abraham’s progress closely as he plans for the future, and Abraham is keen to emulate the success of fellow whizkid and pal Rashford.

The fully-fledged international is now regarded as an important player for Manchester United, and Abraham hopes he too will nail down a similar role once he returns to Stamford Bridge.

Abraham said: “Rashford is a good example for all the youngsters really. He is just a great player and he is getting a chance and he is performing.

“Every time you get that chance out on the pitch, you just have to give it your all and hopefully the chances will keep coming.

“I’ve played against him. I played against him two weeks before his debut and it was phenomenal.

“We knew he was a danger for his team. This was at the under 18 level in the Youth Cup and a few weeks later he went out and won the actual FA Cup so that was a dream for him and I’m happy for him.

“They are keeping in touch and congratulating me every time I play and telling me things to work on.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to score for your country and every time I get out there on the pitch I just have to keep performing and keep trying to score.
