Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Nicklas Bendtner: The footballers whose hairstyles often trump their footballing prowess
MAROUANE CHAMAKH was mocked on Twitter after he showed off his drastic new look.
The Moroccan international, 32, once had enough gel in his hair to cover a family of grizzly bears, but shaved it all off as age appears to have taken its toll.
But former Arsenal man Chamakh is by no means the first star to be ridiculed for his dodgy barnet... Not by a long shot.
With that in mind, SunSport runs down 11 footballers whose hair has gone as far as to over-shadow their on-pitch ability, at times, including Paul Pogba.
MAROUANE CHAMAKH
CHAMAKH used to be the butt of the jokes during his Arsenal days for that liberal use of hair product.
At one point he donned what can only be described as a mullet...
Then last season, during a spell at West Brom, the Moroccan was seen sporting a thinner look on top.
And now, having signed for Cardiff, he appears to have taken the plunge - and a pair of clippers - to his hair... And you must admit, it looks a lot neater now.
PAUL POGBA
THE French midfielder has become something of an internet sensation... And occasionally, laughing stock.
Pogba sealed his £109million move from Juventus to Man United this summer, taking to Twitter, Instagram and anyone who would listen to let everyone know he would be a major success in the Premier League.
Yet a couple of months on and there have been at least a dozen more zany hair-dos, including having hte '100' and 'fire' emojis shaved into the sides.
Between that and the 'dab' videos... Let your feet do the talking, Paul.
GERVINHO
MANY wondered why Ivorian ace Gervinho always wore that headband with his long, flowing hair during his days at Arsenal.
Then, it all became clear.
The over-sized headpiece was covering an almighty receding hairline, allegedly due to 'traction alopecia', caused by his braid-style literally ripping hair out and permanently damaging the hair follicle.
WAYNE ROONEY
ONE day Roo is sporting a lush head of hair, the next, it's thinned and all but disappeared.
Particularly around England's plight at Euro 2016, many started to realise the death and rapid regeneration of Roo's hair.
It's no secret the United ace has resorted to hair transplants and various surgeries... But apparently now he is a fan of spray-on hair products...

'LORD BENDTNER' as many insist on calling him, the now Nottingham Forest striker had a couple of dubious dos himself.

THE original Pogba perhaps?
Not necessarily in terms of on-pitch style of play, but in terms of wacky barnets and the ever-changing nature of the hair, I reckon so...

MAN CITY winger Sterling is no stranger to a new hairdo or two.
From braids, to shaved, to a back-of-the-head knot, Sterling tends to get bored after a week or two.

AH yes the long braids, dyed blonde at that...
It wasn't the best look at the time and it certainly doesn't look any better retrospectively... Fortunately he has the presence of mind to avoid the bleached look these days.
ANDY CARROLL
FROM Newcastle to Liverpool to West Ham, Carroll has always had the potential for a dodgy do.
While the long hair and ponytail look does seem to suit him, some of the braided styles simply have not...
