ENGLAND struggled to a dreadful 0-0 draw in Ljubljana as Wayne Rooney sat on the bench for 73 minutes.
Gareth Southgate's Three Lions dominated possession but Slovenia looked much more dangerous - Joe Hart made two excellent saves to keep the game goalless.
Hart, on loan at Torino, was easily the star man for England.
But how did the other flops fare on a miserable night?
JOE HART - 8 out of 10
STAR MAN. Top early stop from Josip Ilicic when he rushed off his line. Denied Bostjan Cesar in second half and clawed away follow-up. Then denied Ilicic again.
KYLE WALKER - 5 out of 10
NO trouble on his flank as he used his pace well in defensive situations. But would have liked to have got more crosses in when going forward. Found space tight when attacking.
GARY CAHILL - 5 out of 10
NEEDED to use the ball more wisely. Distribution could have been better. Too often he booted it clear when a pass was needed. Threatened with a deflected shot. Booked.
JOHN STONES - 7 out of 10
REMAINED calm in possession and carried play forward from the back. May give the jitters as he always wants the ball but ultimately did not make any mistakes.
RELATED STORIES
DANNY ROSE - 6 out of 10
WILLING to raid forward down the left and that looked like a route to success when he doubled up with Jesse Lingard. Off target with great chance in second half.
ERIC DIER - 5 out of 10
POOR backpass played Slovenia in early on — and he was bailed out by Hart’s save. Also guilty of reckless challenge in first half and had to walk the tightrope. Booked.
JORDAN HEDERSON - 6 out of 10
RALLIED the troops and organised well on the pitch. When the centre-backs split he dropped in and got on the ball. Promising display from the stand-in captain.
THEO WALCOTT - 5 out of 10
HAD a defender nibbling at his ankles and may have needed more protection from the referee. But also found space difficult on his flank and cut inside to try to create.
DELE ALLI - 6 out of 10
STARTED brightly and tried to push England forward. Had a fantastic touch on a very tricky pitch. But he will have more fruitful matches in an England shirt.
JESSE LINGARD - 6 out of 10
STRUGGLED to get on the ball and impose himself. Needed to work better with Danny Rose to get himself into the action but saw a good shot saved late on. Booked.
DANIEL STURRIDGE - 5 out of 10
HAD a very good penalty shout turned down when Rene Krhin barged him off the ball. Failed to link up with his team-mates enough on what was a frustrating night. Booked.
