Manchester City transfer news: Pep Guardiola chasing £45m Jose Gaya deal as he also targets Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin
Etihad chief wants two stars despite splashing the cash over the summer but could be forced to cough up £100m in total
PEP GUARDIOLA wants to bolster his backline with Valencia defender Jose Gaya, according to reports.
The Spanish tactician spent a shed-load of money on new signings after taking over at the Etihad last summer.
But Guardiola kept faith with City’s current crop of full-backs despite shelling out £47.5million on centre-half John Stones.
However, it seems the ex-Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss is keen to add some fresh faces to his star-studded squad.
Spanish newspaper claims Guardiola wants Valencia left-back Gaya to replace either Aleksandar Kolarov or Gael Clichy.
However, the fallen La Liga giants have no intention of selling and will demand at least £45.5m for Gaya’s signature.
The report adds Guardiola is also keen on doing with business with Arsenal for Hector Bellerin.
Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna aren’t getting any younger, and Bellerin is considered one of the Premier League’s finest on the flanks.
But like Valencia with Gaya, Arsenal aren’t willing to open talks as they look to secure Bellerin’s long-term future, and Guardiola could find himself having to spend an incredible £100m in order to land the pair.
