GARETH SOUTHGATE has made two changes to his starting line-up for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

Eric Dier replaces captain Wayne Rooney in the side from the one which started against Malta, with Danny Rose also coming in for Ryan Bertand at left-back.

Otherwise Southgate has kept faith with the players who started at Wembley, which means Jesse Lingard gets his second consecutive start after impressing on his full debut.

Southgate had considered giving Marcus Rashford his first competitive start for the senior side, with the Manchester Uunited youngster operating on the left in training.

But Southgate opted to keep faith with Lingard and Theo Walcott as attacking players joining in with Daniel Sturridge up front.

And Tottenham's Dele Alli will operate in behind Sturridge as the youthful England team go looking for three points against one of their strongest challengers in World Cup qualifying.
