SERGIO AGUERO has reassured Manchester City and Argentina fans after worries he could be out of crucial Premier League games with a calf strain.

Aguero is due to play in Argentina's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday - but had been a major doubt after a calf strain scare.

The forward picked up a twinge in training after his country's 2-2 draw with Peru, and was replaced after 73 minutes by Ever Banega.

But he has told fans to rest assured, saying: "Bauza has the decision: for Tuesday I hope to be available.

"I'm much better. After the Peru game I had two days to recover and (on Sunday) I played a little football.

"I'm better, we did test, I did well and I'm trying to get as fit as possible for Tuesday.

"You always want to play in the team and try to do your best. For now I feel good physically."

Aguero, 28, is had a scan ahead of the game in Cordoba on Tuesday - but has had his national team coaches sweating - given they are already missing injured Lionel Messi.

The forward has scored 33 goals for his country since making his debut in 2006 and with Argentina sitting fifth in the qualifying group, they need all the help they can get.

Argentina took the lead twice in their clash with Peru on Thursday - Ramiro Funes Mori and Gonzalo Higuain but Paolo Gurrero's strike and Christian Cueva's late penalty saw both sides leave with a point.

Pep Guardiola has already had to cope without City's star player for several games this season.

Kelechi Ihenacho had to lead the attack in the Manchester derby as City came out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.
