Fans all say the same thing as Arsenal star Granit Xhaka awarded first yellow card of the 2022-23 Premier League season

ARSENAL midfielder Granit Xhaka picked up the first yellow card of the 2022-23 Premier League season... to the surprise of absolutely no-one.

The 29-year-old has become known for receiving cautions on a regular basis since arriving to the Emirates in 2016.

Switzerland international Xhaka has now been shown a whopping 53 yellow cards for Arsenal in the top-flight.

Ten of those came last season, and the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach skipper wasted no time in going into the referee's notebook this term.

But instead of being booked for a rash challenge or tactical foul, Xhaka was penalised for a dive in the 2-0 win against Palace.

Anticipating a tackle from Eagles defender Joachim Andersen, Xhaka went to ground towards the end of the first half.

Fans weren't surprised by the booking as they took to social media to comment on it.

One user tweeted: "First yellow of the season goes to Xhaka, should’ve bet my house on that."

Another posted: "Some things never change, Xhaka getting a yellow.";
