Manchester City BAN academy players from wearing colourful boots
Pep Guardiola and his staff have made a number of changes at the club since arriving
MANCHESTER CITY have banned all under-18 players from wearing colourful boots to keep them grounded.
Pep Guardiola has already banned a number of things since arriving at the Etihad, including the internet and junk food as he bids to take the club to the top of Europe.
To keep their academy starlets' feet firmly on the ground, director Jason Wilcox has brought in a rule where their young teens can only wear black boots - it is not known if Guardiola had a hand in the policy.
Kelechi Iheanacho is one of the best talents to emerge from City's academy as he is now an important member of Guardiola's first-team squad.
City's head of academy coaching Wilcox told the it is equally as important to develop players' personality as it is to improve their skills on the pitch.
He said: “There is nothing worse for me than to see a high-profile footballer who has no manners or respect for other people.
