ENGLAND fans have praised the Lionesses time wasting and "s***housery" at the end of their sensational Euro 2022 final win over Germany.

Chloe Kelly poked home to give Sarina Wiegman's side a 2-1 lead in extra-time, with 110 minutes on the clock.

From then on, England saw the game out by wasting time as best they could.

Mary Earps let 20 seconds tick by while waiting to take a simple goal kick.

And Lucy Bronze wasted the best part of half a minute as she prepared to take a throw-in.

Wiegman made a substitution in the final moments as Nikita Parris came on for Lauren Hemp.

Players were going down and England superbly kept the ball in the corner, shielding it from the German players, drawing throw-ins and set-pieces at every opportunity.

It was an expert way of seeing out the match and paid off as the referee blew at the end of two minutes stoppage time to signal the end of England's 56-year wait for a major trophy.

Reacting to the time wasting, one person said: "Some world class s***housery time wasting. What a proud day for @England."

Another added: "The last 5 minutes of extra time by the England Women's team should be studied as a bachelors degree.

A third said: "Men's or women's football, I'm struggling to think of a better display of time-wasting than this England team since the second goal. Fair play."

And a fourth said: "On top of everything, that was the finest 10 minutes of time-wasting I’ve ever seen from England. Marvellous stuff #Lionesses."

Wiegman admitted on Monday morning that the game plan after Kelly's goal was to maintain control.

The England coach said: "I thought now keep it [the ball].

"You could see the players thought the same because we went to the corner flag and we didn't get out of there anymore.

"We made one substitution to take a little more time too."
