ARSENE WENGER insists he's had no contact from FA chiefs over the England job.
And the Arsenal boss is adamant that the role should be handed to an Englishman - because they would be able to sing the national anthem better than him!
The Frenchman has teased the FA in the past and claimed before the international break that it would be possible for him to "one day" manage England.
Yesterday Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis appeared to give Three Lions bosses a glimmer of hope by claiming "Arsenal is not Arsene Wenger. They’re not one in the same thing.”
Wenger, who turns 67 at the end of the month, has spent 20 years with the Gunners with his contract up at the end of the season.
But he says the FA have made no attempt to lure him to Wembley after interim boss Gareth Southgate has seen the Three Lions through their next four games.
And although he has previously admitted he knows the words to the 'God Save the Queen', Wenger says the gig should go to someone who can belt it out with pride.
Wenger told beIN SPORTS: "There has been no contact.
"There is nothing really to add. Personally I want England to do well.
"It is very important (that the manager is an Englishman), I have always said that.
"A country like England, with a huge football passion... and as well the structure of the national team (it) looks to me (that it) demands a guy from your own nation is the leader.
"If you think that tomorrow you are the coach of France and you play against England, when the national anthem is played of England, you cannot sing it and you cannot sing as well the anthem of the team you are leading.
"It looks to me a bit strange, that is why I like what is logical.... I think it is better (to have an Englishman)."
Wenger was linked with taking over in the England hotseat earlier in his career.
He added: "It is quite simple. My first priority was always Arsenal. The second thing I would have considered was to stay in England.
"It would be difficult for me to manage another English team, and so the second possibility would have been England, but my priority was always my club."
