West Ham agree personal terms with Gianluca Scamacca and on verge of completing £30.5m transfer for Sassuolo striker

WEST HAM have agreed personal terms with striker Gianluca Scamacca and are set to complete the £30.5million deal on Tuesday.

The Sassuolo ace, 23, will land in London tonight and undergo his medical in the morning before sealing his switch to the Premier League and ending West Ham's long search for a striker.

Hammers boss David Moyes has had to rely on just Michail Antonio up top since the departure of Sebastien Haller to Ajax 18 months ago.

The Scot viewed it as essential that they finally ended that hunt for a forward this summer.

West Ham struck a deal with Serie A side Sassuolo last Friday before finalising personal terms with Scamacca and his representatives on Monday.

The Italy international scored 16 goals in Serie A last season and has seven caps for his country, including the 0-0 draw against England last month where he faced soon to be team-mate, Declan Rice.

Scamacca will become West Ham's fourth summer signing as Moyes pushes to ensure the Hammers can continue to challenge for a top six finish and compete in Europe.

They have already landed defender Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, midfielder Flynn Downes from Swansea and made Alphonse Areola's loan from Paris Saint-Germain permanent.

Moyes does not want to stop at four new faces, however.

Remaining on the former Manchester United manager's shopping list is a midfielder, left-back and wide forward.

West Ham have lodged a bid with Eintracht Frankfurt for wing-back Filip Kostic with the 29-year-old now weighing up whether or not to sacrifice Champions League football to play in the Premier League.

The Hammers are haggling with Lille over a fee to sign midfielder Amadou Onana, though the Ligue 1 side continue to drive up the price given they owe 20 per cent to his former club, Hamburg.

Finally, Moyes and his recruitment team are considering a move for Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz.

The Chile international is available for around £15m and the Hammers sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in Blackburn's friendly vs Lincoln over the weekend.
