The trend setters were the John Charles-inspired 1958 squad who couldn't get their placement right ahead of a play-off with Israel. It didn't matter as Wales won 2-0 at Ninian Park en route to becoming thew last men from their nation to grace a World Cup. The nearly boys also enjoyed a dodgy snap before their games as well. This effort came before a famous 2-1 win against Italy at the Millenium Stadium in 2002. There are rumours Alessandro Del Piero is yet to find his way out of Danny Gabbidon's pocket Credit: Getty Images 8

The previous match against Northern Ireland also saw Bale out on his own - a joke often aimed at Wales by rival fans that was dispelled by some superb performances from the likes of Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey at the Euros Credit: Getty Images 8
