Manchester United make Marcel Bout their new head scout as Jose Mourinho’s backroom revolution continues

Dutchman joined Red Devils with Louis van Gaal and was previously opposition scout before being handed new role

JOSE MOURINHO’s backroom revolution at Manchester United continues after making Marcel Bout his new head scout.

The 53-year-old joined the Red Devils with Louis van Gaal in 2014 as an opposition scout, and is the only Dutchman left at Old Trafford under the new regime.

But Mourinho has clearly been impressed by Bout’s skills, which he honed with various sides including Bayern Munich, Feyenoord and the Dutch national team.

Dutch newspaper claims Bout will now be responsible for finding both first-team and youth team players, with Portuguese duo Goncalo Guedes and Gelson Martins already on the Red Devils’ radar.

United have been scouting various young players across the globe, with a number of top youth scouts set to arrive at the club.

There have also been appointments to the senior department, with Mourinho delighted after poaching Gerardo Guzman from Atletico Madrid on deadline day.

The Spaniard unearthed stars including Radamel Falcao, Koke and Antoine Griezmann, and Mourinho will be keen to utilise his experience.

United have also appointed Brazilian scout Sandro Orlandelli, who counts Arsenal among his former employers.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are confident of pulling off an audacious raid on Manchester City for David Harrison, with Mourinho looking to get one over old foe Pep Guardiola.
