How Arsenal could line up with N’Golo Kante as they plan shock transfer swoop for Chelsea midfielder
ARSENAL are plotting a transfer for N'Golo Kante and the Chelsea star could be a big upgrade to Mikel Arteta's midfield.
Arteta has made no secret of his desire for midfield reinforcements this summer and has already signed Fabio Vieira.
But the Gunners boss also wants a defensive-minded midfielder and rates Kante highly.
Much has been made of the Frenchman's future with only a year remaining on his contract.
That means Chelsea could be willing to cash in to avoid Kante leaving for nothing - just as Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have done this summer.
The World Cup winner could be perfect for the double pivot Arteta deploys in the middle, and would provide balance next to the less mobile Granit Xhaka.

Kante could even be joined in midfield by Youri Tielemans - the Leicester City star has been linked with a move to the Emirates for much of the summer.
The Belgian also has one year left on his contract and Arteta has refused to rule out a move.
He said: "There are more things that we would like to do if we can but the market will dictate what we can do, but so far we are happy with what we have done."
And that came after SunSport exclusively reported last week that the North London club were preparing to launch a £30million bid to sign the midfielder.

Should that move fail Arsenal could make a swoop for AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer.
Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a £34m bid for the midfielder, who left the Emirates in 2017 after spening two years in north London.
