Team news
Stoke- Glen Johnson has pulled out of the England squad with a minor knee injury but is expected to be back for the Sunderland game. Mark Hughes will also expect to have Gianelli Imbula back after the international break.
Sunderland- David Moyes has suffered a massive blow as it has been announced that Jordan Pickford has been pulled from the England under-21 squad, he joins Lee Cattermole, Adnan Januzaj and Seb Larsson in the treatment room.
What they said
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes on Joe Allen:
"Joe was immense again. He's been excellent since he came to the club, Hughes said.
"I knew I was getting a good player - clearly because I spent £13m on him - but sometimes you don't understand how good a player you have in the building until you work with him day-in, day-out.
"He is an intelligent player. He's got great energy levels, we all see that every day, but that's not all. He's got good awareness of situations and how to affect the game. His anticipation is first class in the box and in midfield."
Sunderland manager David Moyes on West Brom performance: 'We are lacking a bit of quality at the minute in certain areas, but the players tried to make up for it with their endeavour and their courage to try to play at times where we weren't that good at it.
'But they showed a bit of courage to keep taking the ball because you have got to have a big set of you-know-whats sometimes to take the ball when you are not playing that well.'
