McTominay motivated for trophies
Scott McTominay thinks his team can bounce back from last season under new boss Erik ten Hag.
McTominay, 25, said: “It's obviously difficult to speak about that last year.
“Obviously it touched a nerve in terms of when we speak about it again as a group.
“It's not nice and that's got to be the motivation now to put everything back to normal and obviously go for trophies again under the new boss because I know that this squad is more than capable of doing that."
McTominay to prove doubters wrong
Scott McTominay is ready to shake off the jibes and show that he can be the midfielder that helps Manchester United back to the top.
McTominay bore a lot of the criticism during Manchester United’s worst Premier League campaign last season.
Legendary skipper Roy Keane even said this about him and Fred being in the Red Devils midfield: “As long as those two are playing in midfield for Manchester United, they will not be winning big trophies."
McTominay aims to prove otherwise but accepts that when you are at Old Trafford the spotlight is intense.
He said: “You’re playing for Man United, you’re going to get criticised.
“If you think you’re going to come and play for Man United and you’re not going to get a little bit criticism here and there, then you're in the wrong job because that's just not how it works at this football club."

More on De Jong and Depay's boat trip
De Jong, 24, has been the focus of United's transfer activity and despite a £71.5million fee being agreed he appears to be no closer to a move.
But amid rows over pay and doubts about De Jong joining Barca's pre-season tour, the midfielder relaxed on a boat alongside Depay, who left United in 2017 after scoring just seven goals in 53 games.
The pair posed for a photo together before being filmed diving into the sea near Barcelona - with Depay pulling off an acrobatic backflip.
De Jong also went paddleboarding with his fiancee Mikky Kiemeney, having proposed to the 24-year-old earlier this month.
De Jong appears relaxed about his uncertain future and is certainly making the most of what the city of Barcelona has to offer in case he does leave.

With a name like 'Zidane', the Iraqi Under-23s international always had massive boots to fill.
Manchester-born Iqbal joined United in 2012 - at the age of just nine - and is well on his way to becoming a superstar.
Defensive stats for Martinez
With Lisandro Martinez all but confirmed as part of Erik ten Hag's squad - the stats suggest he could be the answer to Manchester United's defensive woes.
With two great pre-season results so far - 4-0 vs Liverpool and 4-1 vs Melbourne - there are still questions marks over their defence following a shocking 2021-22 season.
The Argentinian ace, 24, is a ball-playing rock and exactly what the Dutch chief needs.
And the stats suggest the defender, who worked under Ten Hag in Holland, is the perfect fit the new-look squad.
