The 58-year-old American has been in the managerial game for 35 years now having left his college football team - the Princeton Tigers - and going straight into taking charge of the Ohio Bobcats.

Bradley then spent 17 years in charge of the Bobcats and the Tigers - as well as stints as assistant coach at the United States Under-23 set-up, D.C. United and the Virginia Cavaliers.

He then got his big break in 1998, taking control of MLS side Chicago Fire, where he spent four seasons - racking up an impressive win rate of 56 per cent, with 109 victories and only 66 losses in 195 games.

The American also got his hands on the MLS Cup in 1998 during his time in the Windy City.

Bradley was in charge of the USA between December 2005 and July 2011, including leading the team to - and through - the 2010 World Cup, which of course included a 1-1 draw with England following a Rob Green howler in goal.

During his time as US chief, Bradley was a divisive figure among fans and the media.

Criticism of his tactics, persona and personnel choices were frequent, with many considering him to be strict and dry.

Following his time with his native USA, Bradley took over at Egypt where he spent two years, winning 24 of his 36 games in charge.

Bradley then took the unique decision to take over at little-known Norwiegan side Stabaek, where he spent nearly two years, winning over half of his 72 match before he was offered a job in the French second tier.

He has so far lead the French outfit to 11th in the league - with a game in hand that could see them soar up to fifth.

Yet he will have to watch on from a distance now as Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins took the bold move of appointing the manager with little-to-no elite club football experience under his belt.

The MLS, Ligue 2 and international management are all well and good... But this is the Premier League.

Only time will tell if Swansea's knee-jerk decision will pay dividends... It wouldn't be the first quick decision to fail in south Wales.
