POSTMAN SAM
Sam Allardyce sent a postcard to his England team before he was axed by the FA
Disgraced Three Lions manager wrote: 'Our journey has begun. We have won our first match together. See you soon'
THE FA were left red-faced when players began receiving cards sent to them by Sam Allardyce — before he was axed.
The disgraced England boss had written: “Our journey has begun. We have won our first match together. See you soon.”
The postcards, sent to all the players picked for the 1-0 victory over Slovakia in his only game, were delivered to players this week.
But Allardyce saw his 67-day reign ended on Tuesday after being caught up in a newspaper sting.
Allardyce was desperate to foster unity and team spirit among the players between international fixtures.
He made various changes to St George’s Park with a lick of paint here and there in the 67 days in charge.
Allardyce always considered himself to be an innovator and he sent the message to every player picked in his first squad.
