MESUT OZIL has bamboozled the German press even better than he did the Chelsea defence last weekend with the latest news his massive new Arsenal deal is OFF and he’s back off to Real Madrid.

German paper Bild went to town on Wednesday, claiming the midfielder had agreed a new £200,000 a-week mega-deal and nicked Jack Wilshere’s beloved No10 shirt.

But, in a bigger U-turn than the one that gave N’Golo Kante the slip on Saturday, they now say he’s going to break Gunners hearts and return to Spain.

The Germany international, and Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez, have both been courted by the club since last season over new contracts.

Arsene Wenger had hoped to have the business wrapped up in the summer but neither Emirates’ hero put pen to paper to get supporters concerned about losing their top stars again.

While Ozil oozes class on occasions he has also been the subject of criticism and even ridicule for his ability to vanish in big matches for the Premier League club.

Sanchez, however, when fully fit is proving himself to be one of the best players and Europe and is currently the go-to-guy if the north Londoners are going to mount serious challenges on the league and Champions League this season.

Ozil is currently coining in £140,000 but fancies a pay rise to make him the biggest earner at the club.

The closer either player gets to summer 2018, when their contracts expire, the bigger the chance the likes of Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich have of swooping in and taking them away where their chances of winning domestic titles is much greater.
