Liverpool midfielder James Milner is officially the club’s best attacking player
Emergency left-back - taunted for being boring - pips the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana
LIVERPOOL boast one of the Premier League's most formidable attacking units - capable of destroying any team of their day.
But the man behind the success is not one of their dazzling midfielders or forwards but emergency left-back James Milner.
Jurgen Klopp's Mr Dependable has been mocked relentlessly for being the kind of boring, plodding footballer England are specialists at producing.
But Milner has racked up eight goals and 12 assists this calendar year - putting him clear of his more heralded Reds team-mates.
Brazilian livewire Roberto Firmino is next with his 12 strikes backed up by laying on seven for his team-mates.
Compatriot Philippe Coutinho is next after contributing to 18 goals in total while Adam Lallana comes in fourth with nine assists in his 15 contributions.
Just imagine how much more Milner could contribute if he was playing in position, although I suspect a fair few are coming from set-pieces.
