COQ KO BOOST

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin only out for three weeks in boost for Arsene Wenger

Francis Coquelin will not miss 6-8 weeks as originally feared

FRANCIS COQUELIN will miss just three weeks in a boost to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The French midfielder was thought to have suffered a recurrence of a knee ligament injury which saw him sidelined for three months last season.

But Wenger confirmed scans showed the damage was not as first feared.

He said:"Coquelin is out for the game tomorrow - it should be a short-term injury. The scan was quite positive”

Coquelin is certain to miss the Gunners' Champions League clash against FC Basel on Wednesday and their trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Sunday.

But the international break could see him return for Swansea's visit on October 15.

New signing Granit Xhaka - a sub against Chelsea - will have a chance to impress his boss in the meantime as he tries to win a first-team spot.

Aaron Ramsey is on a similar recovery timetable after going down with a hamstring injury early in the season.

The Welshman was heavily involved in Wales' Euro 2016 campaign leading to claims Wenger rushed him back too soon.
