Jurgen Klopp happy with Liverpool’s start to the Premier League after thrashing Hull

Reds have made a flying start to the season, and boss Jurgen Klopp was a guest on Sky's Monday Night Football

Fans are dreaming of a first title win since 1990

JURGEN KLOPP is delighted with his side's early position in the league - but is keen not to get carried away.

Liverpool's 5-1 thrashing of Hull on Saturday lifted the Reds up to fourth in the league, just one point off Tottenham in second.

Klopp's side are the second highest scorers in the league behind Manchester City with 16 goals but the gaffer believes they are competing with up to nine teams at the top of the table.

As a guest on MNF, he said: "I'm happy but it's six games in so there's a long way to go.

"This year the biggest difference is that nobody was happy with their position last year apart from Leicester.

"There has been a lot of change in the summer. Seven, eight or nine teams think they should be top of the table and we all have to cope with it.

"It's the most competitive league in the world."

Klopp was also quick to admire his team's attacking display against Hull just weeks after they failed to break down Sean Dyche's Burnley.

He added: "The game against Hull was very important for us because the big difference was that the movement in the last third didn't stop.

"We had all this good build up against Burnley in midfield and 82 per cent possession but the movement stopped in the last third.

"Against Hull it was much better."

When it was pointed out to him that Liverpool were second favourites for the titles, he first said he was "very happy" before admitting he was confused with "the numbers".

"Where I come from, you keep your money, you don’t lose something," said the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

"But it’s better to have optimism around. Liverpool are playing good.  We had the important game against Hull, and we did it in an impressive way."
