CRISTIANO RONALDO received some comforting words from his mum after being substituted in Real Madrid's disappointing display against Las Palmas.

Zinedine Zidane's men threw away the lead twice against the newly-promoted side and have now drawn their last two La Liga games.

The French boss withdrew the misfiring superstar at 2-1 - replacing him with homegrown frontman Lucas Vazquez.

 

It was the first time Ronaldo, 31, had ever been substituted for tactical reasons in his seven-year career at the Bernabeu.

And it backfired as the sulky star was forced to watch on as the minnows snatched a point with five minutes remaining.

Dolores Aveiro tweeted "Nunca abaixe a cabeça" - meaning 'chin up' in English.
