The two-year deal will contain an option for a third, while Mbappe will also possess greater control over his image rights.

He is also determined to be surrounded by a squad of players with a stronger mentality, something he feels is currently lacking,

A statement from Mbappe's mother, however, has refuted that the deal has reached completion.

It read: "There’s NO agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain or any other club.

"Discussions around Kylian's future continue in great serenity to allow him to make the best choice, in the respect of all the parties"

Under-pressure PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino recently proclaimed that neither he nor Mbappe would be leaving the club this summer.

The Argentine said: "As of today, I’m 100 per cent staying - and same for Kylian Mbappe."

Fans were left convinced that Mbappe was preparing to move yesterday, when a picture emerged of his possessions being packed up.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti gave a cryptic answer when asked about a possible swoop for PSG's No7.

The Italian said: "Mbappe to Real Madrid?

"With this club, with this president, the future is already written."

When quizzed whether he had just confirmed that the transfer would be going ahead, Ancelotti added: "I didn't say that."

Mbappe told Amazon Prime last month that he hadn't made his decision yet.

He said: "Everyone knows that I haven't made my choice.

"I'm thinking because there are new elements, I don't want to be wrong. I want to make the right choice.

"I know that for people, it's a little late to make the decision.

"But I am accountable to no one. It's a personal choice. It is me who makes the decision. I want to make the best decision possible."
