Senegal handed £143,000 fine by Fifa after Salah was targeted with lasers in World Cup play-off & missed crucial penalty
SENEGAL have been handed a whopping £143,000 fine by Fifa after Mohamed Salah was targeted with lasers in March's World Cup play-off game.
Fans shined the laser in the Liverpool star's eye before his crucial penalty miss for Egypt, while he and his team-mates were also pelted with objects as they went down the tunnel.
The Egyptian FA also alleged that their players were the victims of racist abuse.
Sadio Mane converted the winning penalty after the African countries drew 1-1 over two legs to send Senegal into the 2022 World Cup.
But Senegal have now been punished for the behaviour of its fans.
Fifa's disciplinary committee has investigated the lasers, the pitch invasion by Senegal fans at the final whistle and the national federation's "failure to ensure that law and order are maintained in the stadium".

Along with the £143,000 fine, Senegal will be forced to play one competitive game behind closed doors.
The punishments come weeks after the controversial ending to the World Cup qualifier game, which meant Salah and Co would not be traveling to Qatar in November.
They had won the first game 1-0 but lost the second leg by the same scoreline.
Three of Egypt's four penalty takers missed their spot-kicks while fans continued to shine lasers at them as a distraction.
