Marcelo becomes most decorated Real Madrid star of all time as top five most successful players are revealed

REAL MADRID won a record 35th LaLiga title on Saturday.

And in doing so, Marcelo became the club’s most decorated star of all time.

The Brazilian left-back, 33, is set to leave the Bernabeu this summer after 16 incredible years.

And Marcelo etched his name in the history books as Real’s 4-0 win against Espanyol saw him become the outright leader for most trophies won.

The veteran defender, who has played 545 times for Real, has scooped an incredible 24 trophies during his time in the Spanish capital.

Six of those are LaLiga titles, including the record one won today under Carlo Ancelotti – who has become the first manager to win titles in Europe’s top five leagues.

Marcelo also scooped four Champions Leagues – and he could yet make that FIVE with Real still in the semis against Manchester City.

Marcelo is now one trophy above club legend Paco Gento, widely regarded as one of Spain’s greatest players.

The left-winger is the only player to ever win six European Cups, having played for Real between 1953 and 1971.

In third place is none other than Sergio Ramos, who left Real for Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

He scooped 22 trophies at the Bernabeu while also becoming one of the game’s top-scoring defenders.

And Ramos added to his collection by winning the Ligue 1 title earlier this month.

In fourth place with 21 trophies is another defender, Manolo Sanchis.

Playing between 1983 and 2001, he spent his entire career at Real after coming through the youth ranks.

And in fifth place with 20 trophies is Karim Benzema, now Real’s main man on the field.
