JAMES RODRIGUEZ is eyeing up a return to Europe after just SEVEN months and will slash his huge wages to do so, according to reports.

Rodriguez, 30, ended his Everton nightmare when he signed for Qatari side Al Rayyan in September.

He arrived at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium for a fee of around £6.9million with wages said to be £200,000-a-week.

But claim that the Colombian has "communicated his desire to leave".

He is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes, who is supposedly already working on a move.

Rodriguez's move to the Middle East was a far cry from when he was one of the most sought-after talents in Europe following his World Cup Golden boot in 2014.

The ex-Real Madrid star had a tough 12 months at Everton, scoring six goals in 26 appearances in all competitions.

After a red hot start, his form dipped and things began to turn sour.

Then-Toffees boss Rafa Benitez made it clear that Rodriguez didn't have a future at the club after he took over.

He tarnished his relationship with Everton's fans when he claimed to not even know who the club's next opponents were.

While speaking to the Goodison Park faithful on Twitch before a Leeds game, Rodriguez said: "On the weekend I will not play, I don't even know who Everton is playing, can you please tell me?"

The playmaker has not had much luck with his national side either, as he was pelted with objects after a 1-0 loss to Peru.

Colombia failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
