LOUIS VAN GAAL is reportedly set for a return to management four months after being sacked by Manchester United.
The Dutchman received the chop in May despite having a year left on his contract as the Red Devils plumped for Jose Mourinho instead.
Van Gaal has kept a low profile since his Old Trafford exit but reports in Germany claim he is set to take over at struggling Werder Bremen.
The Bundesliga club are bottom of the table after losing their first four matches, scoring just three goals and conceding 14.
Viktor Skrypnyk was relieved of his duties earlier this week, and the alleges Van Gaal will step in for the upcoming relegation battle.
The 69-year-old has previous experience in Germany, having led Bayern Munich to the title in 2010.
Van Gaal’s ultra-orthodox tactics could be perfect for a team scrapping for survival, and under-performing stars including Max Kruse are sure to be anxious.
The ex-Barcelona and Ajax gaffer previously claimed United would be his final club after replacing David Moyes in 2014.
But Van Gaal could be tempted to try his luck one last time after failing to turn things around during his two years at the Theatre of Dreams.
