Broughton's group are one of three parties left in the running to buy Chelsea from sanctioned Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

LA Dodgers owner Todd Boehly and Boston Celtics chief Stephen Pagliuca are also bidding for ownership of the European champions.

But Broughton has now brought two star sporting names on board to back his offer.

Seven-time Formula One champion Hamilton - who is an ARSENAL fan with a net worth of £224m - has pledged £10m towards the bid.

Tennis titan Williams' net worth was reportedly $221m (£168m) as of 2021 and she is married to American tech entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian.

And his sum has been matched by tennis' former world No1 Williams, a winner of 23 Grand Slams with a net worth of £190m.

It's believed the pair linked up with Broughton following weeks of talks.

But they are not the first sporting stars to back a Premier League club.

Should Broughton's bid for Chelsea be successful, it's claimed Hamilton will become involved in efforts to "promote diversity, equity and inclusion".

Broughton has now amassed several major investors from across the globe.
