Watch as on-loan Man Utd star Anthony Martial is bizarrely booked after being WIPED OUT by Camavinga

MANCHESTER UNITED loanee Anthony Martial suffered another nightmare evening at Sevilla as he was bizarrely booked before being subbed off with an injury.

The 26-year-old Frenchman, who joined the LaLiga side on a six-month deal in January, was chopped down by Eduardo Camavinga in the 40th minute of Sevilla's crunch game against Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

Camavinga had already received a caution nine minutes earlier and many felt he could have been given a second yellow for the challenge.

Yet instead of dismissing the Madrid man, referee Guillermo Cuadra opted to book Martial instead after he complained about Camavinga being allowed to stay on the pitch.

Things then went from bad to worse for Martial as he was unable to recover from the tackle and had to be replaced by Rafa Mir four minutes before the break.

And to make matters worse, Sevilla spurned a 2-0 half-time lead as they went on to lose 3-2 following an 82nd-minute equaliser from Nacho before a stoppage-time winner from Karim Benzema.

The night's events typified Martial's struggles at Sevilla - with the United loanee managing just one goal and one assist in 11 matches for the Spanish side.

He is expected to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season despite also failing to perform for the Red Devils in the first half of the 2021-22 campaign.

Speaking earlier this month about his stint with Sevilla, Martial said: “I came to be able to enjoy football again after a long time without playing.

"I know I can be at a higher level, and I work for it, but first the injury, then the adaptation to a new club and a new city, is being difficult for me because of the language barrier.

“I see it very complicated to be able to continue at Sevilla.

"I’m not worried about that right now. I came knowing that it would be six months and then I would surely have to return to Manchester United."

Sevilla are third in the LaLiga table, a huge 15 points off table toppers Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti's men close in on the title.

And Julen Lopetegui's side now face a fight to secure a top four place as they are just three points ahead of fifth place Real Betis with six games remaining.
