The injury will require constant treatment but Shaw wants to continue playing, according to sources at United’s Carrington HQ.

Shaw believes the problem can be treated without a spell on the sidelines and is confident of proving his fitness to Mourinho.

He is hoping to be in contention for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leicester.

Sam Allardyce pulled Shaw out of the win over Slovakia when he suffered a knock in training.
