The crucial clash was tied at 0-0, when a pair of critical decisions went against Juve on the stroke of half-time.

Inter were awarded a spot kick when Dutch full-back Denzel Dumfries was deemed to have been fouled by Alex Sandro.

The call was hotly contested by Allegri and Co, but it appeared that goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had made the matter a redundant one by saving Hakan Calhanoglu's resulting spot kick.

After a VAR check, however, Matthijs de Ligt was deemed to have encroached - with Calhanoglu handed a second opportunity.

This drew fury from Allegri, who launched his coat to the ground in anger - his face contorted with rage.

Calhanoglu stepped up and converted from 12 yards at the second attempt, handing Inter a priceless lead.

Giorgio Chiellini and Denis Zakaria both hit the woodwork for the hosts - who couldn't find a leveller in the second-half.

The result keeps Juve seven points behind leaders AC Milan with seven matches left to play.
