A SERIES of explosions have ripped through Upton Park as filming gets underway for a major Hollywood blockbuster.
West Ham’s former ground is the scene of an upcoming film known as ‘Final Score’, which has been billed as ‘Die Hard inside a soccer stadium’ and stars former James Bond Pierce Brosnan.
The movie, which sees armed criminals holding 35,000 spectators hostage in the arena, is set to be full of exciting action and also features ex-WWE superstar Dave Bautista.
And some pictures have already been published on social media showing smoke and fire blasting from seats at the Boleyn Ground.
Highland Film Group secured use of the site before it’s handed over to property developers, and producer Marc Goldberg reckons Upton Park’s legendary status will make the move a smash hit.
He said: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to film in this unique and legendary location.
“The Premiership is the biggest football league in the world and [West Ham’s] move from Upton Park to the Olympic Stadium has been reported globally.
“We have a stellar team looking to deliver a $20million (£13.78m) non-stop action, world class film with a one-off unique opportunity to utilise an iconic stadium before it’s demolished. Imagine Die Hard in a soccer stadium.”
Partners Arianne Frasier and Delphine Perrier added: “We were drawn in by the script immediately as well as the size and scope of the production which is set in one of the world’s most renowned venues.
“We’ve been successful in the action genre and have no doubt Final Score will resonate worldwide.”
