Gary Neville hits back at Liverpool on Twitter over tweet sent after Manchester United’s loss to Watford

The United and England legend said he would be 'embarrassed' if his former club had sent the tweet

GARY NEVILLE has hit back at Liverpool after they tweeted describing Manchester United's defeat to Watford as 'embarrassing'.

Jose Mourinho's team were beaten 3-1 and have now lost their last three matches.

And their arch rivals responded to a post by a United blogging site that thanked them for beating Chelsea in their 'battle for sixth'.

Neville wrote: "Don't mind a tweet like that at all but IF that United changing room isn't wound up now it never will be!!" "And if I was a Liverpool player id be hammering the Twitter guy!!"

"Official club account mocking greatest rivals 5 games into a season with a game coming up in a few weeks. Why do it?"

A fan then said it would be regarded as banter if Manchester United had tweeted it.

But Neville claimed he would be embarrassed if his former club would have done it.

Liverpool take on United at Anfield on October 17 and Mourinho has not had the best of times on Merseyside on his previous visits.

But Mourinho was boss of Chelsea when they beat the Reds 2-0 in 2014 which started the capitulation of their title challenge.
