Edinson Cavani edging closer to Real Sociedad when Man Utd contract expires at the end of the season
EDINSON CAVANI is edging towards a move to Real Sociedad when his Manchester United contract expires at the end of the season.
Cavani, 35, has plenty of offers when he calls time on an 18-month stay that has made him a cult figure at Old Trafford.
Inter Milan are interested as a potential replacement for Red Devils flop Alexis Sanchez.
Meanwhile River Plate are keen to offer him a road back to South America.
The Argentine outfit looked to be front runners for the Uruguay striker until Sociedad stepped in.
Sources close to Cavani say he has already held initial talks and he would prefer to play in Spain.

Cavani has struggled this season for United after banging in 17 goals in his opening year in England.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, he has seen his game time limited.
He has featured in just 17 games this term - chipping in with just two goals and one assist.
Cavani's compatriot and former United striker Diego Forlan believes the ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace hasn't been used enough this campaign.

"He did that last season if you remember. At the end he was playing many games before the Europa League final.
"And you could see in the way that many people were behind him, players and the way he took the team to the next level.

Before adding: "He never played two or three games in a row and it is difficult for a player to perform well if he doesn’t have many games."
