Pep Guardiola ‘so, so happy’ that Sergio Aguero will extend his Man City contract
PEP GUARDIOLA says he will be a happy man once Sergio Aguero's contract extension is finally confirmed.
The Argentine has agreed to extend his stay at Manchester City until summer 2020 - but the deal is just missing an official announcement.
Aguero - who misses Saturday's Premier League clash with Bournemouth through suspension - has been in blistering form for Guardiola this season.
Nine goals in five matches - including two European hat-tricks - have highlighted the importance of the Argentine forward.
The City boss said: "I don’t know if I am the right person to talk about that. I think he’s going to extend the contract but it’s not official.
"I am not the right person to know if it’s definitely going to happen.
"I think he’s a good player, no? He’s a player you want to stay. We cannot disguise his quality. If he stays I will be so, so happy."
Guardiola will also be without another key player with David Silva ruled out with a minor muscle problem.
He said: "I think tomorrow he will not be able to play, I don’t think. I haven’t seen the doctor and David,
"I don’t think it’s a big problem but it happened two days ago so I don’t think he will be able."
And skipper Vincent Kompany is still not ready to return from the thigh injury which has kept him out since May.
Guardiola said: "He’s close, he’s close. He’s close but not yet, but he’s close. We need him.
