Pep Guardiola reveals his Spanish playmaker is not fit enough to take on the Cherries but Ilkay Gundogan may feature
DAVID SILVA will miss Manchester City's clash with Bournemouth through injury.
The Spanish playmaker pulled out of City's 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday after complaining of discomfort in his ankle.
And after being blighted throughout last season a similar problem, manager Pep Guardiola has decided not to take any risks with Silva.
And the City manager is still debating whether to hand Ilkay Gundogan his first start in the Premier League as he returns from injury himself.
Gundogan impressed against Monchengladbach in his first game since recovering from the knee injury he sustained before he signed for the club in the summer.
And Guardiola says he will speak with his medical team before deciding whether the Germany international is strong enough to play two games in a short space of time.
Referring to Silva, Guardiola said: "I think tomorrow he won’t be able to play.
"I didn’t see the doctor and David. I think it’s not a big, big problem, but it happened just two days ago.
"I’m thinking about Gundogan - I don’t know. He played good but we cannot forget he comes from a long-term injury.
"We’ll see today, we’ll talk to the doctors."
Striker Sergio Aguero is another player missing as the striker serves the second of his three game ban for elbowing West Ham defender Winston Reid.
