reports that Silvia Tremoleda has become City’s latest member of staff after working privately with Barcelona footballers and basketball players.

Tremoleda set Messi on the road to recovery following an injury-plagued season in 2013, although the Argentine eventually switched to Dr Giuliano Poser a year later.

Tremoleda’s appointment follows in the footsteps of Guardiola’s brutal summer fat camp, with treats including pizza and sugary juices consigned to the bin.

Guardiola favours small, light players in order to get his tiki-taka football off the ground, and Tremoleda is set to bring a wealth of nutritional knowledge to the Etihad.

He encourages a very clean way of life, with stars expected to drink plenty of water for starters.

Good olive oil, whole grains, fresh fruit, organic vegetables and nuts are on the menu, with fish the main source of protein.

Meat, especially red, is rare, while products containing gluten are wiped out altogether.
