Joey Barton’s expletive-laden rant at Rangers boss and teammates after Celtic hammering in Old Firm derby revealed
Veteran midfield banished from training ground until Monday after foul-mouthed barbs and won't feature at weekend
JOEY BARTON was banished from Rangers’ training ground after belittling last season’s Scottish Championship title win by saying: 'You were playing against s*** teams in a s*** league'.
As revealed exclusively by SunSport, the midfielder – who has since apologised on Twitter – was sent home from Murray Park on Tuesday and told not to return until next Monday after an explosive rant.
Barton was left fuming after Rangers were humiliated 5-1 in last weekend’s Old Firm derby by Celtic, and the former QPR man released his anger on Andy Halliday as well as a number of others including manager Mark Warburton.
And claims Barton just could not bite his tongue during a heated exchange during training, with the 34-year-old’s barbed words seeing him dropped for Saturday’s game against Ross County.
A source said: “Barton told some home truths and not all of the boys reacted well. One of them pointed out to Joey that they hardly lost a game last season and had been doing fine without him.
“Barton responded by saying they were playing against s*** teams in a s*** league. But he lost the plot when one of the boys said they managed to beat Celtic last season without him too – and that he hardly got a kick against them at the weekend.

“It was all getting very heated but when Warburton tried to calm it down Barton went head-to-head with him too.
“He left the manager with very little choice and it’s difficult to see how he can come back from this now.
“Barton has not been seen at the training ground since and has been told to stay well clear until Monday morning when he’ll discover his fate.”
