Arsenal news: Diego Simeone agrees to two-year contract reduction at Atletico Madrid
Gunners chiefs see highly-rated Argentinian boss as ideal replacement for Arsene Wenger and could now get him for less
ARSENAL fans have been given a huge boost with the news Diego Simeone has sensationally reduced his contract as Atletico Madrid boss by two years.
The Gunners hierarchy see the highly-rated Argentinian manager as the ideal candidate to take over at the Emirates when Arsene Wenger finally calls time on his tenure as boss.
Simeone had a contract at the Calderon until 2020, but has negotiated it down to 2018 — but will remain the highest-paid manager in La Liga.
Spanish daily, , report that this will be his final contract with Atletico and he will leave the club in two years’ time.
Any club interested in hiring Simeone would now be able to pay a much lower amount of compensation.
He is regarded as one of the game’s best managers due to his achievements with the Rojiblancos and was reportedly tempted by an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and former club Inter Milan in the summer.
Whilst also admitting he finds the Premier a League a "very attractive" option.
