‘The best owner in the world’ – John Terry thanks Roman Abramovich for Chelsea success as Russian confirms he is selling
JOHN TERRY hailed Roman Abramovich as 'the best owner in the world' following the news that the Russian is set to sell the club.
Abramovich confirmed on Wednesday that he was putting Chelsea up for sale after a trophy-laden 19 years at Stamford Bridge.
During that time, Blues legend Terry won five Premier League titles and FA Cup trophies as well as the prestigious Champions League.
With Abramovich's era at the club now looking likely to end, the former captain paid tribute to Chelsea's long-time owner.
Terry, 41, posted on Instagram: "Thank you Roman. The Best Owner in the WORLD."
Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale as Government sanctions threatened his fortune amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
He vowed to give any profits from an expected £3billion deal to the victims of the Ukraine war — but he refused to condemn the actions of tyrant crony Vladimir Putin.
The billionaire also revealed he would be writing off the £1.5billion debt Chelsea owed him.

The announcement came just hours before the European Champions' 3-2 FA Cup win over Luton Town.
Chelsea looked shaky as they were forced to twice come from behind, with Abramovich’s statement still fresh.
But manager Thomas Tuchel believes his players were not - and will not - be affected by it.
The German also feels if Abramovich believes it is the right decision to sell Chelsea, then it must be the correct move.
Tuchel told BBC One: "Maybe I heard it a little earlier than you but still very close to kick-off, we heard the rumours throughout the day, saw on TV, when we have team meetings and eat together everybody talks about it.
I think every decision he takes is the right decision, it is his choice, his club, it is not on me to comment.

"In the very short term for us as a team, staff and players, hopefully not too much [disruption], maybe even it will change nothing, but the situation is now out there and a big situation so I can understand lots of reports.
"We try to cancel the noise and stay focused, which is not always easy, but we showed today we were able to do it.
"We are not living on an island, the players have internet - some are more concerned, to play on the same day a match where focus is absolutely key is not so easy and makes it a bigger performance."
