Liverpool warn Tsimikas after fans spot him spitting gum into Wembley stands during Carabao Cup trophy presentation
LIVERPOOL have reminded Kostas Tsimikas of his responsibilities after footage appeared to show the Greek star spitting into the Wembley stands during yesterday's trophy presentation.
Tsimikas, 25, was an unused substitute as the Reds' overcame Chelsea 11-10 on penalties to win the League Cup.
But Liverpool have warned their reserve left-back about his actions.
The Reds clarified that Tsimikas was spitting his chewing gum out, and had no intention of hitting anybody.
He is said to be 'apologetic' for his actions.
But Twitter users were repulsed by the incident.
One wrote: "What have I just seen?! That is disgusting."
While another added: "I hope someone has spotted that. That is disgusting."
A third commented: "Proper proper vile this."
While a fourth labelled it: "Despicable behaviour."
Tsimikas signed for the Reds for £12million from Olympiacos in the summer of 2020.
He made just seven appearances last term, but has already managed 18 this time around - laying on three assists.
These outings include three starts on Liverpool's road to League Cup glory.
