‘My three-year-old daughter knows that’s a penalty’ – Lampard slams referees after missing Rodri handball vs Man City

FRANK LAMPARD claimed his three-year-old daughter could have spotted Rodri’s handball after Everton were denied a penalty in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The Spanish midfielder clearly used his arm to control the ball in the dying minutes at Goodison Park.

But referee Paul Tierney, and then VAR Chris Kavanagh, caused fury among Toffees players and fans as they somehow waved play on.

Everton boss Lampard was left dumbfounded by the decision as his side slipped closer to the relegation zone.

And he insisted even his toddler at home would have known his side deserved a spot kick as he slammed the ‘incompetent’ officials.

The Chelsea legend said: “I have a three-year-old daughter at home who could tell you that was a penalty.

“It is incompetence at best, if not that then someone needs to explain what it is.”

Phil Foden‘s second-half strike ultimately earned Man City a fortunate victory that sends them six points ahead of second-placed Liverpool in the Premier League, although the Reds do have a game in hand.

The England international pounced on Michael Keane’s sloppy defending before poking beyond Jordan Pickford to clinch all three points for the champions.

Next up for City is an FA Cup fifth round tie against Peterborough on Tuesday.

They then host rivals Manchester United in the Premier League next Sunday in a mouthwatering clash.
