Francesco Totti’s match-winning heroics against Sampdoria could see him offered new contract at Roma at age of 40
Ultimate one-club man could have played himself into 25th season at Olympic Stadium as stats prove his effectiveness
FRANCESCO TOTTI could be set to receive a new Roma contract at the age of 40.
The ultimate one-club man has been with his hometown side since 1992 — and this will be his 24th season at the Olympic Stadium.
It was thought he would be set for a move to the US at the end of the previous campaign as his impact on the pitch appeared to be fading.
However, important goals towards the end of the season which helped the club seal Champions League qualification and the club’s chiefs reneged and offered him a new one-year deal.
But, an assist and goal in the weekend’s clash with Sampdoria which turned defeat into victory could see his stay be extended still.
