Raphael Varane OUT of Man Utd starting XI against Brighton after falling ill in warm-up as Victor Lindelof replaces star
RAPHAEL VARANE was forced OUT of Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Brighton after falling ill during the warm-up.
Victor Lindelof replaced the former Real Madrid centre-back in Ralf Rangnick's starting line-up, while Tom Heaton joined fellow keeper Dean Henderson on the subs bench.
A statement on the club's official account read: "Raphael Varane has pulled out of tonight’s starting line-up due to illness.
"Victor Lindelof will replace him in the starting XI, and Tom Heaton will be the addition to our bench."
Rangnick made some bold decisions ahead of the clash with Brighton.
He decided to drop Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba as Fred and Anthony Elanga returned to the fold.
It came amid growing pressure at Old Trafford following a number of poor results.
Man Utd were searching for a first win since the winter break after dismal displays against Middlesbrough, Burnley and Southampton.

But they were able to get the job done on Tuesday night as goals from Portuguese duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes handed them a much-needed victory.
The win moves Man Utd up to fourth in the table, two points ahead of West Ham.
Next up for the Red Devils is a trip to Leeds on Sunday, before they head to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
