Marcello Lippi offered £50.8million to return to China and manage former club Guangzhou Evergrande

MARCELLO LIPPI is on the verge of becoming the world's best paid boss.

The veteran Italian boss, 68, won three straight titles with Guangzhou Evergrande between 2012 and 2014.

And according to Corriere dello Sport, the Chinese club have offered him a whopping £50.8MILLION to return to Asia.

The deal would make Lippi the best paid manager in the world and would see the former Sampdoria man handed a three-year deal.

Guangzhou Evergrande currently top the Chinese Super League but are keen to push their worldwide appeal further.

They boast Jackson Martinez and Paulinho in their first-team and are currently six points clear.

Lippi won three titles on the bounce with the club before handing over to Fabio Cannavaro.

He continued as technical director until February 2015 when he left to return to Italy.
