David Luiz: I won everything at Chelsea except the Premier League… It is time to do it

Brazilian star discusses his return to Blues and reveals his burning ambition

DAVID LUIZ is back at Chelsea and he has declared “it is time” for him to win the Premier League.

The Brazilian made the most shocking move of the transfer window when he re-joined the Blues from PSG in a £30million deal on deadline day.

Champions League, Europa League and an FA Cup medal were all added to the 29-year-old’s collection during his three year spell at Stamford Bridge from 2011.

But a league title evaded him, and the former Benfica ace is desperate to clinch one this time around in west London.

“It is time to do it. And I hope it will be this year,” said Luiz.

“I am working hard for that and this is our goal this season.

“We don’t have the Champions League to fight for so for sure we will try to win the Premier League and both cups.”

Luiz looked to have settled right back into London life when he was snapped enjoying a meal with fellow Brazil and Chelsea star Oscar within 24 hours after re-signing.

And the bond with his former colleagues is part of the attraction that made him comeback.

Luiz said: “I really wanted to come back because I spent an amazing time here. I loved to be here and that is why I want to come back.

“Of course I had a great relationship with Oscar and the Brazilians and with the other players here, so when you miss your friends you want to be together and that is why we went out to have dinner.”

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Luiz added: “I am a lucky guy. I’ve had the opportunity to play in Europe for amazing clubs. I had a great relationship with Benfica, a great relationship here and a great relationship with PSG.

“When I left my family my mum and dad taught me to respect everybody before everything else. It does not matter if you win or lose in life, you need to respect everybody. That is what I try to do every day.”
